Thame Hockey Club
Juniors
Welcome to Thame Hockey Club Juniors
Training Venue: Thame Leisure Centre
Training Times: 9am - 10.30am
Starting Date: 4th September 2010
The main aim of the coaching sessions is to provide a safe and fun environment in which to learn the core skills for playing and enjoying hockey, including co-ordination, agility, stick work and team work.
The sessions are designed for ages 8-16, although more experienced players aged 13+ may also wish to join the adult training on a Wednesday evening, Ladies from 8pm - 9.15pm and Men 8:45pm - 10pm.
This Season we will for the first time have 2 junior team entered into the local Oxfordshire League an Under 14 Boys(& Girls) team and a Girls Development Team for girls upto the age of 16(upto 4 adults allowed in the team).
We have three level-1 qualified coaches: Jaypee Wentzel, Vicky Wheeldon and Ross Calvert, who will be supported occasionally by CRB-checked volunteers from the Club.
The Club is affiliated to England Hockey and we have adopted their policies on child protection, with Vicky Wheeldon as Welfare Officer. For more information on these policies, please see the England Hockey website at www.englandhockey.co.uk.

We are following a tried and tested coaching programme, which will cover the foundation skills and build throughout the season towards playing effectively in teams. We hope to arrange some games against other local clubs this season, provided we have enough enthusiastic players (so bring your friends along!).
Please ensure that you have completed a membership form so that we have the correct contact details for you. You can download one from the main Hockey Club home page.
Your child must have a gum guard and shin pads in order to play in the games, for their safety. We recommend waterproofs and a warm hat and gloves as it gets colder.
A drink is essential and a snack such as a piece of fruit or a cereal bar may also prove useful. We can lend them a stick.
If you have any questions or comments about the junior training, you can contact Vicky Wheeldon via the contact details on the policy documents.
