County team successes

With an increasing number of Junior players attending training on Saturday mornings and midweek, Thame Hockey’s on-pitch performance is also on the rise and the Club is gaining wider recognition at County level.

This year, 14 players from across the Junior section have been rewarded with selection for their County squads (Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire) in the Under 13, 14 and 15 age groups, the highest number ever selected in the Club’s 10-year history.

This could not be achieved without the fantastic help of the coaches and numerous local volunteers involved in running the Club. Whether it’s setting up drills on the pitch, giving guidance from the sideline on a freezing cold morning, or serving coffee to parents in Café Talk, these are all crucial roles contributing to making Thame Hockey the community club it is today.

Not only have we seen significant expansion in the Junior section of the Club with members from Under 8’s through to Under 18’s doubling to 249 players from 2012 to 2018, but also within the Senior section, which has led to the introduction this year of a fourth Ladies' team alongside the three Men’s teams. Thame Hockey is now firmly established on the hockey map, competing at a high standard across the region.

Friendliness, a sense of community and fun are the principles that we thrive upon at Thame Hockey, and which are helping the Club continue to go from strength to strength.

Congratulations to all the players on their County selections and thank you to all involved:

Oxfordshire Under 13 Boys: Jake Stainton, Charlie Cook

Buckinghamshire Under 14 Girls: Jess Chandler, Rowan Chantrey, Amelia Changer, Olivia Parkin

Buckinghamshire Under 14 Boys: Joshua Parker, Daniel Laws, Robbie Skea, Louie Rouse-Roberts
