I hope you're enjoying the lovely sunshine - looks like a perfect weekend for our first regular junior training sessions and fixtures. Please login to pitchero and confirm your availability for upcoming fixtures as soon as possible so that the Team Managers can select teams and let you know more about the plans.
Cafe talk will be open this Saturday, selling teas, coffees, squash and cakes. Please let us know if you are able to help run the cafe - we will only be able to keep this going if we have volunteers to help - we are also looking for a rota co-ordinator in each age group. We currently won't be open on Sunday, but if any under 8 parents would like to take this on, please let us know. Cake/biscuit donations are always welcome (no nuts please).
We have limited spaces available in under 10s/12s this season, and we will be offering these to people on the waiting list in the next week or so. Please pay your membership to confirm your child's place this season, or let us know if you are not planning to renew so that we can offer the place to another player.
Finally, a few quick reminders about Junior training:
(1) Please arrive on time and register with your age group coaches before joining in the games:
Saturday: U10s 8.30-9.45am U12s 9.30-11am
Sunday: U8s 9-10am
(2) Remember your gumguard and shinpads (sadly you won't be allowed to play without them). You must also wear appropriate sports clothing, including trainers or astro shoes, and bring a drink. A hat and gloves will be essential as it gets colder. We can lend you a stick.
(3) Parents please stay to watch and check that your youngsters are settling well into the groups. Under 8 and under 10 parents must stay to watch for the full session (or nominate an adult who is staying there to support your child). While you're watching, feel free to pick up a stick and have a bit of a knock-around on the sidelines, or come and grab a tea/coffee in the cafe (on Saturdays)
If you'd like to have a go at hockey this season, we have just the thing for you: Rush Hockey on a Friday evening 7-8pm. An opportunity to play small-sided mixed games on 1/4 or 1/3 pitch. The ball can't be lifted and the aim of the game is to have some fun. I know some of you have expressed an interest in the past but were unable to make the mid-week full training sessions. Rush Hockey is a great way to have a go - do come and join us.
We're looking forward to a great season, and if you have any questions or concerns please let your coaching team know, or get in touch with me or with Michelle Hinde-Smith who is co-ordinating the junior section this season.
We look forward to seeing you at the pitch,
Thame Hockey Club Chair 2019-20
