Going into this game we sat in 4th place with 1 point, looking like we'd be sent back to the league below - However....
We played Wycombe U12 A and drew 1-1 with a superb goal from Barney C to level. We did so well that one of their players checked if we had the right number on the field - We had plenty of possession, both Barney B and Zack made important saves, and we were very close to stealing the 3 points. In the end a fair result.
We then took on a depleted Southgate B team (due to an in game injury) and Aiden joined in to help them out (playing an amazing game), we dispensed of this team 4-0, we passed the ball around in midfield (calm leadership from Xander and Lucas), tackled well and ran at them (Jake ran tirelessly in all 3 games)- and all goals were scored by Charlie, 3 from open play and a penalty corner. Maurits was solid in his RHS defense position and ensured we were not troubled.
We then took on Tring. We narrowly lost 2-1 in the previous meeting so the boys were fired up to respond. And we did. Within 1' the boys were 1-0 up thanks to a sweet PC strike for Charlie (the Tring coach was jumping up and down at his team at this point). We then held the play well and attacked - Jake went close again, Lucas distributed the ball to Xander and Barney very well. In the second half, more of the same from Thame, and we extended our lead to 2-0 with another open play goal from Charlie.
Special mention to Charlie: Today is his 11th birthday, he scored 6 goals, he gets shouted out a lot by his Dad, but he never complains, loves playing with his friends, never stops and he gives 100% to his club.
Team delighted, league status retained, happy coaching team and parents.
Thanks to Robert Broadhurst Sanda Ringsma for excellent umpiring - The coaches from the opposition were, somewhat "vocal", but it all worked out in the end.
Excellent time keeping from Nanette Dart Jason Bekker but we missed Lisa Welsh this weekend and needed her to deal with a stray parent who wandered through the gate onto the pitch (to see his Tring side lose!).
Thanks to the parents for watching and cheering on the team.
