So, lots of positives to take from today's game, but sadly we went down 9-2 in the sunshine.

We knew we'd have a tough game today as they were older and 4 of their team play in the U13 Oxfordshire county team. But, we started well and defended well but around the 5' mark the goals started to go in.

We fell foul of some basic mistakes, but the pace of the older Oxford team made it tough going, even for our stronger players.

Ned did so well in goal, saving multiple shots in direct sunlight and policing the team. Lucas defended the line well and played his best defensive game of the season plus Jake went close with the few chances he had.

After 20' we went into half time at 6-0.

After a mature discussion and coming up with a simple plan, the team went out in the second half aiming to cut out the basic errors and salvage some pride. We had the view to start off at 0-0 and try again.

Within 1 minute Charlie had scored and then 5 minutes later he scored again flicking the ball thru the advancing 'keepers legs, so things were much better as the team found their mojo.

We see this seasons OXU12 league as a development year as the vast majority of the available team are from YR6. With this in mind, we also welcomed 2 players from Aylesbury U12 who slotted well into the team. We also welcomed Leo from the U10s and his moment for me came when he skipped past 2 of the county players and raced into the D only to be tackled in a close 50/50 - Exceptional work and vision.

However, we ended the game at 3-2 in the second half and naturally lost 9-2.

Hawks looked after us, were very sporting and fed us well (photo, apologies I forgot the team picture today) so we look forward to next year when we play Hawks again!

We move on into the Christmas break.
