Ladies 3s take 3 points with a win!

Ladies 3s won 1-0 at TLC this morning ! Newbury started strong and kept us defending our D for a lot of the first half. Great teamwork from the defence kept the ball out of the goal, despite some good pressing of the ball from Newbury. Jaz just kept carrying the ball out of the danger zone, and Julie put in some crucial tackles, whilst Sally guarded the P spot and prevented several goals. When we found the wings and worked the ball up the pitch, we were able to fight back with some good forward runs, particularly from Meg and Rowan. We just couldn't score that elusive goal - there were some particularly strong block tackles from Newbury and they just kept getting in the way!

After a firm team talk at half time, we stepped it up a bit in the second half. We were more determined on the 50-50 balls and started to see more possession going our way. Vix held onto the ball and carried it to the edge of the D, saw Jess in position at the top of the goal, and with a clear pass, Jess slotted a solid strike into the net to give us the lead. We held our nerve, maintained a solid defence and took our chances for some more attacking runs in the last part of the game. We totally deserved to win this one girls - some great teamwork, backing each other up and passing the ball around. Keeping possession is the key. We'll take those 3 points, thank you!
