Brilliant strength in depth was on show this afternoon from the Ladies 3s for our re-arranged game vs Sonning Vets. It's a tricky one to put out a team at half term, but everyone rallied round, and it was a great game, in glorious sunshine, with a home crowd for support. We played the ball around well and our forwards zoomed up the pitch for some good attacking play in the first half. We were rewarded with several penalty corners. On our first one, Gabi stepped up and scored the first goal with a solid strike from the top of the D. Meanwhile, Sonning came back at us with some great passing moves up the pitch but our defence held firm - great clearances from Clara and Jasmine, and big thanks to Clare Farrow for stepping in as goalie for us and doing an amazing job with several solid clearances to keep the ball out of the net. At half time Jaypee gave us a good talking to and lots of encouragement. We stepped up the pace and kept the ball in the attacking D for most of the second half. Great teamwork and making space in the D gave us the opportunities we needed and Bel and Meg both scored from some great passing moves. MoM Gabi scored again, and the celebrations began as the final whistle blew. Well done girls - let's keep up the winning streak.
