Having had a great start to the season, and sitting top of the league, Ladies 3s went to second placed Wallingford knowing that they would be facing their hardest game yet.
The home team came out strong from the start and, although Thame managed a couple of attacks at the start of the first half, Wallingford had the majority of the attack and Thame never really got going. By half time Thame found themselves 3-0 down (which included a penalty flick) but we knew we could play better.
Laura gave a strong/stern half time talk which motivated/scared the team to put in a better performance in the second half! We were more determined in our play and produced more attacking moves but never really threatened the Wallingford goal who managed to add two more goals to finish the game 5-0 winners. A result that perhaps didn’t reflect the effort put in during the second half.
Thame will learn from this game to be more prepared against the stronger teams we are going to meet over the next 3 or 4 weeks.
Special mention to Julie for taking all the injuries for the team and to MOM Sally who never seemed to stop running!
Hopefully back to winning ways next week.
