Thame enjoyed a bright crisp day at Oxford Hockey Club this past weekend.
We entered two teams featuring a combination of new players and experienced players.
The efforts the children are making in training are really paying off - Thame's U10 squad who played against Banbury, Oxford, Oxford Hawks and Wallingford were under the direction of Rob, Michelle and Matt. This season's 100% unbeaten record continued with 2 wins and 2 draws. Barney kept 4 clean sheets whilst Jasmine and Tom (season debut) stood firm in defence and made sure Barney was well protected. Abigail (first goal of the season) and Emma never stopped running and made the opposition defenders work hard all day. Poppy, Charlie Ralphs-Cole and Ivy all played pivotal roles in midfield and kept the ball moving well between the team and making critical tackles. Charlie Cook stood firm in midfield and also scored his third goal of the season after a long run. Bella played as attacker and ran tirelessly in all four games latching onto a great pass from Emma to score her 7th goal of the season. The squad of 10 fought well, played as a team and then came together as a complete unit as the final game that saw all 10 players battle Oxford Hawks - For all, this was the first time they'd played and were unlucky not to take away a win having dominated the entire game against a strong Hawks team. All in all a great session and good experience.
The Thame squad under a the direction of Chris, Scott and Cliff saw games against Wallingford, Oxford Hawks, Oxford and Witney.
(Will update details of other team once available).
Thanks to Chris and Cliff for helping us out and giving up your time to support the club.
Overall a great session of tournament hockey from Thame and some sound performances from our newer members as well.
Thanks also to the parents who helped us out with the plethora of items a tournament throws at us - Your support was most appreciated!
Well done all and keep up your efforts at training each week.
