After last year’s torrential rain, we were all very happy to see the sun and to welcome Anushri and Violet who were both making their tournament debuts for the club.
We were off to a really good start and beat Banbury 3-0 after a quick fire hat trick from Kit, but then ran in to a very good Oxford side with a couple of very strong players. Despite some excellent chances and some great work from Imogen and Josh in midfield and a shot from Anushri cleared off the line, we were unlucky to be caught out by a swift counterattack and lost 1-0.
The next match vs Hawks was the best of the season so far with the team playing some lovely passing hockey and rallying from 2 goals behind to draw 2-2. Erin and Hamish were doing some great work in midfield, Charlotte celebrated her first goal for the club and Violet then saved the day with a brilliant goalmouth clearance with 2 seconds remaining.
Sadly, by the last game we ran out of steam and were to lose 4-1 to a very strong Wallingford side.
All in all, another great tournament with more match experience gained and we will look to take 2 teams with some of our newer players to the next 2 tournaments after half-term.
