Boys U14 V Maidenhead U14 Boys

Thame U14 Boys at Maidenhead U14 Boys
We travelled away to Maidenhead - For most of us it was our first taste, as a squad, in the Home Counties Junior League.
We have also moved to red socks (due to constant clashing) and this provided new impetus and team spark.
After last weeks bumpy game we started well and pushed Maidenhead around and forced multiple errors. Our positioning was much better and we moved the ball well. It took us 5' to open the scoring after probing their defensive line. The ball didn't go into our own half at all in the first 25' and we made Maidenhead suffer despite their bigger squad and experience.
We went into half time 7-0.
A quiet word with the Maidenhead coaches meant we played most of the second half with 10 players or at some points 9 - However we continued to press well and it was good to see our shape hold well and our defensive unit stick to their roles. We forced many errors and generally peppered their keeper who battled hard. We scored a further 8 goals.
Final score 15-0 (league records result as 5-0)
We provided the parents (thanks for your support again) with a good disciplined game and also we continue to show how polite we are thanking all coaches/umpires pot match.
A great result - Now we need to take this effort into training on Tuesday and then over to Hawks next weekend as we continue our road trip but back to the Oxon League.
Thanks to Richard Birkby and Robert Broadhurst for the photos and to Robert Broadhurst for sponsoring our wonderful group of boys.
Goals:
Olly (5)
Barney (5)
Louie (2)
Ben (2)
Charlie (1)
Clean sheet for both Barney and Ned.
