U14 Boys V Slough U14 (Away Day #3)
Our 3rd-road trip game is as many weeks at Slough today ended with another crushing 9-0 win for THC U14 boys! This week, in our tour of top-level clubs, we were warmly welcomed by former GB international Kali Takher (some of you may know him if you were born before 2000!) to Slough and their excellent pitch.
Another full house of very vocal and passionate away spectators helped us thru the first 5’ as we soaked up the pressure in the midfield and held firm. Then we started to play. As in previous weeks we built up well from the back thru Ben and Lucas with great leadership from Andrew and Ed. Charlie bossed the Slough midfield and constantly delivered long range balls to Barney, Louie and Olly. Eventually we broke free and opened the scoring.
We went into half time 5-0 up after a controlled and pressing performance again. Special note to Sam and Saketh who ran all afternoon. Expecting Slough to sit and defend for second period, we changed the formation for the second set of 1/4s and played a 3-3-4 format which provided a further 4 goals
Max was the MOM this week after his superb defence pushes forward and dogged determination to maintain a clean sheet: Instant team decision.
We did so well – We did not defend one PC nor did our excellent ‘keepers (Ned and Barney) touch the ball. Luckily it did not rain, and we completed this part of the season with 4 clean sheets, 40 goals and most importantly a strong togetherness.
Another delightful team performance and everyone played a major role in today’s success.

Barney – 4
Thanks again to the parents for supporting us, for their photos and to the coaching team (Alex, Rob, Laurence and Nina) who provided the necessary grounding this week.
