U14 friendly V the girls U14 squad

Boys U14 took on the Girls U14 team this morning in a pre season friendly. Conditions were excellent for early Autumn hockey and all of the squad had a good run out.
My view was of a fairly balance game with (for the the boys) progression from last weeks game V U16G. We had 4 different formats to work with and its given us a good feel for the squad and where we are strong and where we will focus training in the coming weeks. We will still focus on playing out from the back and ensuring we make good accurate passing but we did move the ball well in the midfield and with width, and then pressed well when we defended the ball. With some further work on shooting in the D we should be ready for our upcoming league games.
It was good to see the progression of the girls group too - Given it was their first game of the season and for most a full pitch, they battled well and provided stern defence and attack.
As last week, the score wasn't important, more that as a group we've progressed well since the summer fitness session.
