BU16 loose the first match of the season but kept heads high to the end

The BU16 squad finally started the season with an away match against Marlow.
It was definitely a game of two halves, with a late change in tactics due to Marlow expectantly turning up with a goalie. Well done to William V and Ben for stepping up and each having a turn in goal for Thame.
During the first half the Thame boys lacked some structure and organisation which left them open to attack. There lack of match play was evident but they never gave up and defended really hard against a string of attacks from Marlow.
Justin and Pete gave a tough half time talk and the boys came out really fired up for the second half. The structure was better and players kept to there position which really improved the game. Marlow were obviously thrown by the transformation in the Thame boys who came out fighting and attacking. Thame had a number of really good attacks on goal and were very unlucky to not score a couple in the second half.
Thame only gave away one penalty corner but received 5 which were all executed well using the set up practised in training. They were very unlucky not to score so the training is definitely getting through to the matches.
It's hard to single out specific players as they all worked really hard, showing lots of determination and commitment. The Umpire even commented that it was a great game and Thame played really well deserving a goal or two. A special mention goes to Tom, Jorrel and Elliott who played some masterful hockey and all ran a marathon of a game.
After much deliberation MoM goes to Ben who had a good game and made some good saves in goal.
