Thame U16 Boys faced an away trip to South Berkshire on a sunny Sunday afternoon today.
The game began with South Berks putting a lot of pressure on the Thame defence, the switches of play spreading the pitch and opening up gaps in our defence. Berks broke the deadlock after 15 minutes and then continued to pile the pressure in the first half and dominated, although a few good opportunities were wasted by Thame. The score was 3-0 at half time and a much needed team talk from Colin came in handy.
The second half looked like a different team were playing and we pushed up higher and created more chances. This end to end game was full of chances for both teams and Matty NG was crucial in denying fury her goals with a superb second half performance.
Woody did his best to dispossess his own teammate (Elliot), he must have forgotten he’s wasn’t playing for Aylesbury. A massive thank you to him and Will from Aylesbury, a big shift from both of them.
A goal finally came in the last play following a short corner, an incredible strike into the bottom left from the one and only Stephen W. The game ended 3-1, not what we would have wanted, but great determination and spirit from all of the boys, leaving a very happy coach and captain at the end.
Large thanks to Colin for stepping in as coach for the day. MoM goes to Stephen for his strike. Roll on for next week, finally a home match. Thank you all the parents who drove over to play as taxi, great support on the sidelines.
