Welcome to Thame Hockey Club Juniors

Our junior section currently has about 250 participants. We introduce children aged 5 to 16 to hockey in a safe and fun way.

Training Venue: Thame Leisure Centre
Under 10s 8.30-9.45am
Under 12s 9.30-11.00am
Under 8s 9.00-10.00am
Under 14/16 Boys 7-8.30pm
Under 14/16 Girls 7-8.30pm

The main aim of the coaching sessions is to provide a safe and fun environment in which to learn the core skills for playing and enjoying hockey, including coordination, agility, stick work and teamwork.

The sessions are designed for ages 5-16. More experienced players aged 13+ may also be invited to play fixtures with the adult squads.

Most junior fixtures take place on Sundays.
There are several mini tournaments throughout the season for our U8s, U10s & U12s.
U10s, U12s, U14s and U16s play league and friendly fixtures against local clubs.

We have a growing band of qualified and experienced volunteer coaches. Bucks county coach Jaypee Wentzel is our Lead Coach. We also have a strong group of Under 18 Young Leaders, and additional DBS-checked parent volunteers.

The Club is affiliated to England Hockey and we have adopted their policies on child protection. James Skea is Welfare Officer and can be contacted via the website. For more information on these policies, please see the England Hockey website at www.englandhockey.co.uk.

The latest handbooks, safeguarding policies and registration documents can be found in the Juniors folder of our Documents section Documents\Juniors

Your child must have a gum guard and shin pads in order to play in the games, for their safety. We recommend waterproofs and a warm hat and gloves as it gets colder.
A drink is essential and a snack such as a piece of fruit or a cereal bar may also prove useful. We can lend them a stick.

Please ensure that you have registered on the website and have created a login to Pitchero so that we have the correct contact details for you. Parents/Guardians should create a logon for themselves and we will create a linked account for your child. All correspondence for that child will then go to the parent/guardian(s).
Under Settings\Email Preferences, you will also need to confirm that you accept emails from the Club, so that we can keep you updated about training, fixtures and events. This is where you will set your child's availability for fixtures.

If you have any questions or comments about the junior training, you can contact Michelle Hinde-Smith via the contact details provided on the website.
