Ladies' Results
The Ladies 1s climbed to fourth in the table after an impressive 5-1 away win over Staines 1s, with the match even earning the side some YouTube fame. Thame made a flying start, leading 4-0 at half-time after some excellent team goals, working the ball up the pitch and around a Staines goalkeeper who had an excellent game despite the scoreline. T. Brooks and C. Sharpe both struck twice, while B. Lambourne also found the net to continue her scoring form after getting on the scoresheet in last week's 7-0 win over Windsor. Staines came out stronger after the break and briefly unsettled Thame, but the 1s regrouped to add a fifth and secure a convincing victory.
The Ladies 3s moved up to second after a commanding 5-1 win over Abingdon 2s in a crucial clash near the top of the table. With Abingdon sitting a point ahead before the match, Thame delivered from the outset and raced into a four-goal half-time lead. The team's confidence and experience showed, with the junior players impressing and B. Crowther making important runs down the wings from defence. R. Ledesma, who scored against Marlow the previous week, was among the goals again, while H. Gresty-Evans struck twice and J. Faller and S. Chettle also found the net. Abingdon responded with greater intensity after the break and managed to pull a goal back, but Thame added a fifth to seal a well-deserved victory.
The Ladies 4s fell to a 3-1 defeat against league leaders Banbury 3s. Thame started strongly after a positive team talk, enjoying plenty of possession and putting pressure on the visitors without finding a breakthrough before half-time. Banbury raised their level after the break, but Thame continued to compete with some excellent passing and movement. Their goal came after a superb move from the back, with the ball worked up the pitch before P. Thomas finished with a reverse-stick shot. Despite the result, the team showed good communication and teamwork against tough opposition, with N. Valind, H. Brown and H. Tuckey earning special mentions for their efforts.
Men's Results
The Men's 1s fell to a 3-1 defeat against Wycombe 1s. Wycombe started the stronger side, with Thame struggling to retain possession before conceding from a scrappy penalty corner. H. Kelman brought Thame level with a superb strike, an absolute screamer of a cricket shot, but the visitors regained the lead from a penalty stroke before adding a third to secure the win. K. Chantrey earned Man of the Match for an outstanding effort across multiple positions.
The Men's 2s secured a 4-1 victory to remain fifth in the table, following up last week's 6-1 win over Yateley with another strong result. After a disjointed first half ended 1-1, Thame regrouped at the break and returned with renewed intensity, finding another gear to take control and pull clear. S. Chignall continued his excellent form in front of goal, adding two more to the brace he scored against Yateley the previous week. N. Jones and B. Rudolph also found the net as Thame turned a tight contest into a convincing win.
The Men's 3s moved up to fourth after a 4-2 victory, with H. McEwen's hat-trick leading the way. Thame dominated the first half, racing into a 3-0 lead and controlling proceedings. McEwen carried his goalscoring form into another week after finding the net against Oxford, while H. Subesinghe also scored. The opposition came out pressing high after the break, forcing errors and making the second half much more competitive, but Thame held on for an important win. D. Ashby impressed at full-back on his first appearance for the 3s, while C. Watts returned from university to bolster the squad. C. Cojeen also showed real determination, recovering from a rough piece of play to return to the pitch and see out the game.
The Men's 4s fell to a 3-0 defeat against Abingdon 5s, despite another committed performance. Thame created plenty of chances but lacked the composure in the D to turn their attacking play into goals, while Abingdon were more clinical when opportunities came their way. J. Diprose produced several excellent saves in goal to keep Thame in the contest, while J. Faller and I. Naqib both made impressive debuts. The side showed promise in attack, with I. Naqib, B. Bosley and Z. Gascoyne creating opportunities, but were unable to find a breakthrough.
