Ladies' Results
The Ladies 1s enjoyed an excellent afternoon with a 5-2 home win against Henley 2s. Thame made a flying start, going 3-0 up inside the opening five minutes before adding two more before half-time. M. Ainsworth and B. Lambourne scored twice each, with G. Francis also finding the net. A change in formation after the break helped keep Henley at bay, with a hard-working defensive display dealing well with their short corners.
The Ladies 2s narrowly missed out in a 3-2 away defeat to Abingdon 1s. Thame took the lead and went ahead again at 2-1, with C. Harris and A. Laws on the scoresheet, but Abingdon grabbed a late winner in a tight contest. A strong effort from the team in difficult conditions.
The Ladies 3s came away with an 8-1 win against the Ladies 4s in an all-Thame fixture. The 4s applied plenty of pressure early on and the 3s took some time to settle, but once they found their rhythm the goals followed. J. Livingstone, S. Brown, J. Faller and A. Gabriele were among the scorers, with a special mention to J. Faller, who scored her first penalty flick for the 3s.
The Ladies 5s lost 3-0 away to Buckingham 3s, but produced an impressive defensive performance despite being a very new team still finding their structure. Hattie and the defence made countless saves to keep Buckingham at bay, with plenty to build on as the team gains more experience together.
Men's Results
The Men's 1s were beaten 2-0 at home by Staines 2s, with both goals coming in the first half. Staines were well organised, but Thame showed improvement from last weekend, particularly through the middle of the pitch. H. Kelman made his debut, with plenty of positives to take into next week's game against Hawks.
The Men's 2s secured a 3-0 home win against Wycombe 3s, with N. Harris, M. Dales and H. McEwan all finding the net. After a cagey first half, Thame came out strongly after the break, playing some excellent hockey and converting the chances they created. There were also some great debuts from new juniors.
The Men's 3s suffered a 5-3 defeat away to Aylesbury 3s, with J. Chantrey scoring twice and S. Watts grabbing his first goal for the club since his U16 days. Thame went 2-0 down early on but responded well after half-time and gave Aylesbury a much tougher test. S. Watts made a big impact after moving into an unfamiliar midfield role, while T. Diprose stepped out of goal to ensure the team could field 11 players.
The Men's 4s narrowly lost 2-1 away to Milton Keynes 4s, with J. Tyrell scoring Thame's goal. Despite only just managing a full 11 in the heat, the team showed great commitment throughout, with H. Bosley and B. Bosley combining well going forward and J. Wakefield putting in a strong defensive performance. It was also great to see P. Stone return to the 4s and J. Tyrell return from time away, with plenty of positives for a team that should continue to grow as the season progresses.
