
Ladies' Results
The Ladies 1s fell to a 4-2 defeat away to Banbury 1s, with C. Sharpe scoring both of Thame’s goals. With players covering unfamiliar positions and only one substitute available, it was a challenging afternoon, but the team enjoyed good periods of possession and kept fighting until the final whistle.
The Ladies 2s secured an impressive 4-1 win away to Newbury & Thatcham 2s, with C. Harris, R. Ledesma (2) and A. Laws on the scoresheet. Excellent team play, passing and finishing in the D helped Thame to a convincing victory, with the juniors also excelling throughout.
The Ladies 3s continued their strong start with a 3-1 win against Oxford 6s. J. Faller, B. Crowther and L. Chantrey all found the net, with B. Crowther making a brilliant run up the wing from defence to score.
The Ladies 4s suffered a 4-0 defeat away to Oxford Hawks 6s, with a difficult first half giving Hawks the advantage. Thame responded brilliantly after the break, keeping Hawks scoreless and creating more shots on goal than their opponents. With no substitutes against a squad of 15, the second-half performance showed a marked improvement in positioning and the press.
The Ladies 5s bounced back with a 2-0 win against Aylesbury 4s, with J. Faller and V. Shaw finding the net. The team showed big improvements in formation and passing from last week to secure their second win of the season.
Men's Results
The Men's 1s earned a point from a dramatic 1-1 draw away to Oxford Hawks 4s. Playing with a bare 11, Thame enjoyed the majority of the play and created some good opportunities, with D. Garghan opening the scoring. Hawks equalised from a short corner on the final whistle, leaving Thame with a hard-earned point on the road.
The Men's 2s were beaten 2-0 at home by Abingdon 3s in a close game with some good periods of pressure. T. Diprose made an excellent save from a penalty flick, while Thame grew into the contest over the course of the second half but were unable to find a way back into the game.
The Men's 3s were held to a 0-0 draw against Banbury 5s despite producing one of their best performances of the season. Thame moved the ball well from the start and dominated for much of the game, creating numerous chances but unable to find a way past the Banbury goalkeeper. The midfield controlled the ball well and transitioned effectively into attack in an impressive team display.
The Men's 4s secured a 2-0 win against Oxford Hawks 7s, with D. Mordant scoring both goals on his debut. Six players made their Thame debuts as the new-look side quickly gelled, playing some excellent one-two hockey and delivering a strong team performance to secure the win.
