Blink and you'd have missed it!

Thame Ladies 1s were looking to build on last week's win when we faced Milton Keynes 1s on Saturday 14th October.
The warm-up was a tad on the average side, but the team spirit was high, following the cha cha slide! Coach Buddha voiced his concerned about whether we were actually ready and up for the game, but we all told him 'fear not, we got this!'

Less than a minute in and MK score!!?‍♀️?

Don't panic Mr Mannering!

From the resulting pushback, we worked the ball straight down into their D. A little ping pong around the goal, before it headed towards Goat on the edge of the D, a loud billowing voice (Katie) shouted 'SMASH IT!! And that is exactly what Goat did...smacking the ball off the post and inl!! ??. With only 2 and a half minutes on the clock the score was already 1-1.

We scored our second from a short corner. The call coming from Buddha to do a 'Harley'. It was text book!! (Won't go into details as don't want oppo getting inside info from these reports!!) 2-1 to the good with only 6 minutes on the clock!

Our midfield was dominating the middle of the park, our new look defensive pair of Claire and Fou, along with Charli and Goat were holding firm at the back and bossing the transfers, back and forth tiring out their forwards and Mary and Chopper tag teaming as centre forwards and putting in strong shifts upfront. And our midfield, (Lisa, George, Mia, Tamsin, Summer and Katie) were doing a great job of supporting the forwards in attacks and the defensive when on the back foot.

With our high press at MKs 16s and free hits, they were struggling to get the ball out and were forced to try an ariel to get the ball out of defence. Unfortunately for them the ball went straight to Chopper, who nut-megged their defender, ran to the top of the D and smashed it home!! 3-1 after just 20 minutes!

The second half was a much quieter affair, and not much to write about, although Bekah made some vital saves for us, keeping MK at bay.
Another great performance, with all players contributing to the win. Well done ladies???

Final score 3-1 Thame
Scorers: Goat, Chopper X2
Cards: 0!!
MOM: Lots of votes for different people, but Birthday girl Lisa took the award for putting in a great shift in the midfield.
DOD: George for turning up late to the pre game team talk (and for a swimming incident with coach Buddha!) ?

Next game: Sat 28th away v Amersham and Chalfont.
