Thame hit students for 6!

Thame ladies 1s were on the road again this week traveling to play the students at Oxford University

Things didn't quite go according to plan for a number of the players, after they got caught in heavy traffic and ended up being 25+ mins late for the meet time. Coach Buddha called captain Chopper to find out where everyone was, (he'd been waiting by the pitch for ages).... to find out he'd only gone and driven himself to Oxford Brooks Uni in Headington!!! DOD nomination already!! ?
No time for team talk, a shorter warm up, but we did cha cha slide! ?

Our huddle talk before start was, work hard, want the ball, lead run, high press and score more goals than then!! Simples!

Oxford just about dominated the first few minutes of play, but Katie scored the first goal after 7 minutes, great play by the team setting her up. We then found ourselves 2-0 up after 15 mins, Lisa with a reverse hit, deceiving the keeper.
Oxford Uni were pushing for a goal, but our defence were standing strong, and keeper Bekah making crucial saves. Unfortunately, we lost Sarah from defence just before the break to an injury, so a reshuffle was needed.
The students managed to get one back 5 mins before half time, giving them a glimmer of hope.....
only for it to be dashed when we hit straight back with our third, Chopper picking the ball up and sliding it in on the reverse hit.
Half time and time for a rest, oranges and team talk.

More of the same was needed in the second half. We created chances and were pulling off some fantastic short passes around their players. Lisa was dominating the midfield and producing great runs and interceptions.
Our 4th goal, was from a short corner routine with Mia tapping in at the back post.
Summer joined in with the.goal fest, getting her first goal for the 1s with a lovely pick up middle of D and slotting home for our 5th.
Oxford uni got their 2nd from a bullet of a shot on the edge of the D.
However, Lisa rounded off the scoring, with a mazy run through their defence and round the keeper to slot it home #twinkletoes!!
More amazing saves from Bekah towards the end, kept the students to just 2 goals.

Final score 6-2 ??

Scorers: Lisa x2, Katie, Mia, Summer Chopper

MOM: Outstanding performance in the middle of the park by Lisa, and her 2 goals, gives her the award this week ????

Next week: Home v Maidenhead....we have a score to settle with these ladies!! Spectators very much welcome.
