After 2 weeks of being on the road, ladies 1s were back at home in the 11.30 match, and up against the physical Maidenhead side!!
After a slight scare with the frost cancelling the u8s/u10s this morning, the sun shone down on the pitch to make it GAME ON!!
The fixtures last season against Maidenhead were memorable occasions (losing both and coming away battered and bruised!) and so we wanted to put one over them in today's match.
We were all up for todays battle, new sound system in place (thanks to Sarah) getting the music blaring, helped us get in the mood during the warm up. We even got the cha cha slide booming across the pitch!
Before the match we all observed a 2 minute silence for rememberance day, and on completion a quick huddle, and away we went.
We wanted to assert our dominance from the off, put them under pressure and put into practice our training drills from Wednesday.
We were starting to get into a rhythm, passing the ball around nicely and kept attacking the D, in the first 20 minutes we hit the post about 6 times, it just didn't seem to be going our way.
Maidenhead, then head a break away and got in behind the defence, Bekah made a valiant effort in stopping their striker, but they got the goal to go one up.
We didn't let our heads go down and kept battling, and right on the whistle we were awarded another short corner. Set play called by Buddha and this time we nailed it, Charli finding Chopper to fire it home.
The half time oranges tasted that much sweeter!
2nd half was much the same, with us dominating territory and possession working the ball round the back to find the spaces, we were unlucky to get two green cards, but Maidenhead quickly following suit also getting their 2nd card of the game.
Our 2nd goal came from our full back Claire stepping up and into the hustle and high press, picking up the ball just outside of the D, driving it in and taking a strike!
Despite tensions rising and some peacocking ? (Chopper!) we were able to regain some composure and keep cool to take a well earned win!
Final score 2-1 Thame!! ??
Scorers: Chopper and Claire

MOM: 6 players up for this week's award, but taking it home was Nik! Absolutely outstanding performance in her first game for the 1s this season.
