Ladies 1s hosted relegation strugglers Newbury and Thatcham in the 11.30 pushback. We were looking at trying to get back to winning ways, but knew it would be a tough one looking at their recent results.
A good strong squad of 15, allowed us to work hard in short sharp burst, rest and then go again.
The first 10 or so minutes Newbury dominated possession and territory, we just couldn't get a foot hold in the game. Our defence was standing firm though and stopping any real threat on goal.
We slowly started to get hold of the ball a bit more, however it was still a little scrappy and rushed for our liking.
Newbury and Thatchams defence were cutting everything out and the half ended even Stevens.
2nd half was much the same, both teams trying to find the opener. The defences were having none of it.
With 6 minutes to go we were awarded a short corner, Glorian was the call.... the ball found it's way to Charli who sweeped it into the far corner.....cue jumps of joy and team hugs!!
Newbury tried to find an equaliser, but we were having none of it!!!
It was a great team performance and a hard fought vital win, that we hope to build on going into next weekends games.
Final score 1-0 Thame ??
