A super early meet in Henley following the skipper's incorrect reading of the pushback time saw us arrive in a sunny Henley with plenty of time for a warm up. After Dave and Andy had enjoyed their burgers in the sun we got onto the pitch for a game against a well established side in the league we have been promoted into.
It took us a few minutes to react to the quicker pace of the match but when we did we played some lovely hockey with Dave slotting the ball into an empty goal following some great interplay down the wing. We quickly made it 2-0 in the 2nd quarter when Isaac slapped it in following some more silky two-touch hockey. We conceded a slightly unlucky goal at the start of the 3rd quarter but quickly bounced back and went down the other end to restore our two goal advantage with Isaac scoring his second following a short corner. Despite going down to 10 men for a couple minutes either side of fourth quarter starting, we remained in control and scored a well-deserved fourth off the final play of the game with Charlie B-C slotting in at the back post from a short corner routine (following Isaac’s hat-trick avoidance air swing).
A fantastic team performance which gives us great momentum going into the league season in a couple weeks time.
MoM - Isaac for a great performance up top, including a lovely finish on the half-volley for his second goal. Honourable mention to Charlie as well who had a strong performance in the middle of the park.
DoD - Captain Caiger for getting everyone to Henley 30 minutes before they need to be.
