A 12:30 pushback allowed us to avoid the worst of the wind and rain on a stormy Saturday. Going into the game we knew this would be a tough match against a strong opposition but we started positively and created several chances in a fairly even first half. Windsor had the first clear cut chance of the match when they were awarded a stroke following a short corner. Fortunately for us Chris Mullins' intimidation tactics were so good he didn’t even need to dive the right way as the Windsor player put the flick wide. Windsor did take the lead a few minutes later as they buried a drag flick into the back of the net. We responded well though Aidan Benger buried a stroke of our own into the bottom corner after with Adam Lawrenson, who posed a constant threat all game up top, won us the stroke after being cynically fouled when through on goal.
1-1 at halftime and it was still all to play for. The second half was as even as the first with both sides creating opportunities but we were just unable to get the necessary upgrades when we got the ball into their 25. About halfway through the second half Windsor took the lead through another short corner, a fierce hit which found the bottom corner from the top. Despite opportunities in the last few minutes we couldn’t find an equaliser and fell to a 2-1 defeat.
A great game which really could’ve gone either way, plenty more positives to take from it than negatives. We sit 2nd in the league behind Windsor with two big games still to go before Christmas.
MoM: Mullins - a fantastic game in goal and some great saves which kept us in the game at points. Honourable mention to Adam L who looked sharp up top and posed a lot of questions to the opposition defence with his runs in behind.
DoD: Elliot Dales - passing to their centre forward from centre back is never the best idea.
