Heading off to Marlow for an early evening pushback Thame knew that they'd be up for a tough game against a Marlow side that they had a two good battles with last year. The first half saw Marlow dominate possession and territory for a lot of the half but a spirited defensive performance from all on the pitch ensured the ball never made it into the goal. Thame did create opportunities on the counter attack with a good pick on the line from one of the Marlow defenders denying Dan a second goal of the season from a short corner. It remained 0-0 at halftime and a positive team talk at halftime gave the belief that Thame could get something from the game.
Unfortunately Lewis was unable to take part in the second half after taking a nasty blow after bravely running down one of Marlow's many short corners, leaving us with only one substitute. A positional reshuffle done and Thame started the second half well, having much more of the ball and territory with the Marlow keeper forced into a couple of smart saves from efforts from Ben and Sid respectively. Marlow eventually took the lead when they were awarded a p-flick which they put away despite a great effort from Mullins in goal to keep it out. Thame continued to battle away but were hindered by some late cards and failed to create anymore clear cut opportunities, final score 1-0 Marlow.
A loss but a strong battling performance with a lot of character shown, especially having only one sub for the second half. Things that could be improved but a lot of confidence to take into the next game at home against Wycombe as well.
