Buckingham 2 came to Thame in high spirits but alas a bolstered Thame 2s reunited with the Skea boys and Adam were ready and waiting!
A beautiful day but a bit toasty for hockey Robbie had the opposition a bit under the collar with a fabulous solo run and finish to open the scoring before Scott on the bench could even start his heckling, remarkable speed!
Adam soon be out the lead to 2-0 with a sublime reverse stick to the top corner boom! This slick start settled and a tidy third just before half time (probably from Scott) rounded out a solid half, in at 3-0.
Haunted by the near comeback in our first match we started the second half strong and another beautiful distribution right from the back found scotty alone in the d, via Jamie’s shoelaces, for another spectacular finish into the side netting.
Structure lost us a bit as energy sapped by the heat but scotty inspired by his chivalry last week, or maybe trying to avoid the jug put the ball to the back post for maybe the most dramatic of diving reverse stick defections you ever did see from our dearly beloved captain. I may be embellishing a bit. Another goal finished Scott off and he retired with a dicky hip and a hat trick, leading to some dod votes for using up his good shots for the season all in one game.
Special mention to Barney, great clean sheet and well earnt, the counters were rapid and probing and no small number of shots, they were unfortunate to come up against such a formidable opponent.
Collin stalwart at the back, no way through, great game. And thanks to Dave and Rob for umpiring so well.
MOM to Sam for being everywhere and working so damn hard! Great effort we’ll done.
DOD somehow goes to our dear captain, despite his great goal. I think it’s to spare scott the despair of another one, or maybe because he forgot how to play hockey and had the ball trickle though his legs in stead of taking advantage of a one on one with the keeper…
