Arrr, gather round, ye scallywags, for a tale of a fierce battle on the high green seas! Thame 2s squared off against the young, swift buccaneers of Oxford University, and though no treasure was claimed, ‘twas a clash to remember. Aye, the score ended a deadlock at 0-0, but the journey was filled with narrow escapes and daring defenses!
Oxford took the helm in the first half, their fleet of nimble lads givin’ Thame's crew a right old headache. Thame’s defenses groaned under the strain, strugglin' to keep up with Oxford's speedy marauders. But there was Alex, our stalwart sentinel, guardin' the ship’s rear with the steadfastness of a lighthouse in a storm. Nary a cannonball nor a sneaky shot passed him, and he held the line like a true captain of the defense.
As the game wore on, the winds shifted, and Thame began to rally. By the end, it was they who nearly stole the spoils o’ victory! Kit, that tireless deckhand, ran his legs to the bone, composin' himself like a veteran navigator on stormy seas. His cool head won him Man o' the Match, and deservedly so!
But lo, Gav – the notorious hot-headed swashbuckler – got himself another green card, spittin' his dummy out like a true powder monkey. If he keeps this up, he’ll be plundered of his coffers by season’s end!
And so, the duel ended in a fair draw. Thame holds the fourth berth in the league and sails on to Eastcote next week, where points – and perhaps the finest teas across the seas – be waitin’ to be claimed.
