U12 Boys - Chiltern Premier League Games (Round 3)

It was our first set of games in the CL Premier Division this sunny morning.
We were up against the best that Southgate, Amersham and Wycombe U12 boys would offer.
We well prepared after the last 2 weeks of training and had our first game against Southgate.
Sadly, we lost 1-0. After a very even and fair contest that also presented Louie (our new recruit from Aylesbury) his first game for the club, the last 1’ saw their static centre back decided to go on an run and walk the ball past all of our players into the goal. So after some good play for 17’, we were undone by the tenacity of one player.
After our regulation 5’ break we faced Amersham who have, so far in the CL Premier League this season, scored 16 goals in 6 games. After some enforced positional changes, we set about task well – We defended (Ned was MOM today and has kept us in contention) and showed Amersham we were not going to lie down easily. We had a lucky few breaks and a PC but could not find the goal ourselves. After the break Amersham were given an early PC and despite our wonderful defence, and a back stick, their goal was given. We showed the same fighting spirit we did when we were down against Wallingford but could not make that final ball count today. The whistle went and we’d lost 1-0, but did show much improvement in our play and positioning.
So to Wycombe – We’d beaten them last season so we knew we, one year wiser, do it again. Again after a very even and fair contest, we managed to secure several passes as a team (which was the best we’d done all day) and allow Olly to secure his 10th goal of the season as his bundled past the last defender and the keeper to push the ball home. A great team goal.
Overall I was pleased to see how they performed and grew as a group, overcome the challenges they had with the first games and secure 3 points.
We will have to do the same and more to keep ourselves in this league but with a few more weeks of training and effort, I am sure we will prevail.
These 3 well establish clubs have superb support, coaching, facilities and big pool of well-trained players to select from, so the fact we have a boys and a girls team in this division and are competing, is down to the hard work of the players, parents and coaches.
Thanks to the parents who were superb in their support and Nin for the photos.
Roll on December the 8th
