U12 Boys - Chiltern League Round 5 - Premier League
So the 7 outfield players and two 'keepers who faced the final phase of the Chiltern League did a fantastic job at showing composure and team spirit - plus kept their cool.
We faced (National League) Southgate in the first game and started well. We went 1-0 up in following a string of attacks that involved Louie, Ben, Theo and Olly (on his birthday). The well worked short corner saw us take the lead (Charlie). Going into half time the team reflected and came out strong and went 2-0 up after mazy run between Jasper, Charlie, Ben and Olly (Olly scored). We let Southgate back into the game as we were not ready but held on well to win 2-1 with great defensive skills from Lucas and Aiden and our two keepers (Ned and Barney)
With the win under our belt and 3 points, we faced Amersham. We lost this game 3-1 and were undone by some defensive mistakes which left both keepers little chance. We recovered a goal (Charlie) after he passed three players to shoot high and home.
We faced new comers Buckingham in the final round and lost 2-0. Again we were undone by some minor errors but took them game to them the entire time and in my view unlucky to loose. We battled to the end but could not turn around the result sadly.
Overall we did much better than our efforts in the previous rounds plus we are shaping up nicely as we moved towards the Oxfordshire League games and In2Hockey events in a few weeks time.
Thanks go to all the parents who stood and supported - I for one appreciate this, Nanette Dart for time keeping, WhatsApp reporting and Photos, Nina Chadbone for umpiring under difficult circumstance, Robert Broadhurst for umpiring, Tim Rowlands and Richard Birkby for moving the goals into place for the session.
We move on to the final round in Buckingham in a few weeks time.
