We had a rusty start to our Oxfordshire League game and found ourselves playing a desperate form of hockey for the first 10'. However we went into the break 1-1. After some discussion we went out with a different mindset and started to play much better - passing well and getting into the right positions.
Lucas and first team debutante Andrew did well to keep out a pushy Oxford line and held firm with the support of Ned and Barney. Max joined the second half and defended well alongside Lucas.
In attack, Ben and Charlie did well to control the game and did not look too bothered with the Oxford players. Olly and Louie (who only arrived back from the USA that morning) worked well to provide options from the midfielders and Olly battered 4 goals past the rather new 'keeper. Charlie struck two himself - one from a PC and the other from open play.
Overall, the team did well and are a tight unit focused on passing and securing a win. We won 6-1 so we are pleased with the result.
Thanks to Nanette Dart for the images and to Robert Broadhurst and Clare Seed Edwards for looking after the newly qualified umpires who did well in tough conditions.
Thanks for the support from the parents as well.
