L3s continue winning ways

Julie Tatum13 Oct 2019 - 14:13

Although it was a bleak and cloudy Saturday afternoon, the teams spirit and determination allowed us to pull out a 6-1 win against Maidenhead L5s.

Again, another brilliant win for the ladies 3s team, meaning we are happily sitting at the top of division 5. We were joined this week by Charlie who gave some great runs up the left wing, getting past multiple maidenhead players and scoring 3 times as well as multiple stong crosses and set ups to other team members. Her third goal was particulaly impressive, picking the ball up at the halfway line, sprinting down the wing and finishing with an offside slap into the back of the goal. She made it look so easy!

Emma and Sally played brilliantly in the middle as pivots, getting the ball across the pitch and maximising the use of space. Maidenhead had strong defence and were tight markers but despite this Thame were at 5-0 at half time.

The team had a great shape, led by Kerri who played centre forward, drifting across the width of the pitch and keeping a close eye on the game. Kerri gave L3s a great goal by hitting the goal at pace straight to the backboard. There was great work between our monther / daughter duo of Caitlin and Sally and amazing play from Alex and Charlie working together on the left.

Thame had a few short corners but due to the oppositions aggression and strength on the post, we did not score as many as we could have (even though we ended with 6 goals!). Rosie did some great sprints up the right wing and with help from Kerri scored 2 goals, maintianing her place at top of the Div 5 top scorer table.

Our defence stayed strong at the back to ensure when Maidenhead's were able to break they were kept at bay. Lynne and Imi had a great combo lifed ball save mid way through the 2nd half but soon after some scrapy play in the goal lead to Maidenhead's only goal.

Great play from everyone, setting us up nicly for the top of the table draw next week.

MoM was Charlie and well deserved as she showed great skill and impressive speed and stamina.
