Thame fight hard and hold on for the win

Thame girls lost the toss and Phoenix started with the pushback however with only one pass, Thame intercepted and went on the charge. The ball was being passed around and crossed from side to side but could not seem to get in the D. Phoenix's defence was strong and the ball was finally cleared. 5 minutes in to the match, Rowan was on the ball and with a well worked run pushed up to the D, seeing Rosie ahead she passed the ball and with one touch Rosie fired it into the goal. Phoenix came back at us and were putting our defense under pressure however our girls were doing a great job at chanelling Phoenix players away from the goal. Unfotunately after a ball appeared to go off the back line, play was not stopped and Phoenix put in a cross which was met by their player and they levelled the score. The girls were a little unsettled by this and the play became a little mixed but Thame girls brought it back together and with only a few minutes left of half time were awarded a short corner. The girls lined up and using their 'secret code', found Amy and in it went. The second half started with Thame back in charge and the girls were constantly going in to the 'D' but the ball kept being fired out. With our halves well placed the ball was being pushed straight back in and the forwards finally found the space to work with, passing to Rowan who slotted it in. Phoenix were not phased and pushed the Thame players bringing the ball around and across, backwards and forwards. Phoenix were being awarded long corner after long corner and finally they managed to sneak the ball in past Immy. Final Score 3-2 to Thame.

The girls should be really proud of themselves and there are some really good partnerships developing where players are backing each other up and falling into other positions when needed. MoM (joint) Amy and Jaz.
