The game started with the ball moving around the field nicely and Thame were on the attack. A & C were under pressure and Thame were awarded a short corner. Unfortunately A & C had it covered and with some fancy footwork (!!) managed to stop Thame scoring. The next few minutes saw Thame awarded several more short corners but A&C's goalie was steadfast and was not letting the ball through but a final A & C clearance saw them on the charge catching Thame out. Suddenly the roles were reversed and Thame conceded a short corner. A & C produced a text book injection and clean finish resulting in the first goal of the match. Thame girls composed themselves and went back for the restart and immediately they were pressuring the A & C defence. After 20 minutes Thame finally found what they were looking for with Annabelle perfectly positioned to slot the ball in behind the keeper, 1-1. The next 10 minutes saw Thame having shot after shot and short corner after short corner but with no successful result and A & C able to clear the ball back to the halfway line. With only 2 minutes left of the first half and the spectators nearly hoarse from the cheering, Thame were on the charge again. Emma C completing the charge with a great shot on goal, 2-1 and Thame were at last in the lead. The 2nd half saw Amersham coming back at us but in the 4th minute, Emma C intercepted the ball and went off down the field, outrunning the opposition until she was in front of the goalie. Her shot got blocked by the goalie but all of a sudden there was Rosie taking the rebound and in it went, 3-1. With the light fading and the temperature dropping Thame kept up the tempo and in the 30th minute Poppy took a great shot off the right post, scoring her first goal. The dying minutes saw Thame continuously on the attack but the A & C goalie was doing a brilliant job of denying us any more goals. Final score 4-1. Well played everyone, what a great team this is and thank you to all the parents for making the trip to Amersham. MOM Emma C whose great interceptions and amazing speed took her down the pitch like lightning leaving the opposition for dust!
