Winners Thame Ladies 4XI Away Vs Bicester 3 on 30 September 2023

With our coach/manager/walking wallet Simon away on his hols even more pressure was on myself and me Julie!

We started off exceptionally well, obviously my inspirational team talk "have fun and don't be rubbish" had done the trick with Vicky Shaw hammering home our first goal within the first couple of minutes!

Now, I'm not saying it's unusual for Vicky to score, but I think I was in slight shock as Bicester's counter attack led to an equaliser which was popped straight through my legs! (Simon, you'd have been pleased I was still upright though ) So with us back level pegging the hunt was on for another goal.

We piled the pressure on and despite the great effort from our midfield and forwards that goal was elusive during the first half.

Bicester gave our defense some work to do and a few minutes before the break we lost Greeny to an impressive rugby style take out, with a clonk to her head.

We took to the field for the second half hungry to hit the back of the net and within 8 minutes we took the lead from a short corner put away beautifully from none other than our Vicky!

Bicester ramped up the pressure and gave the defence the opportunity to show their skills too, defending numerous dubious short corners.

I feel I redeemed myself with a couple of decent saves too. Final whistle blew and we took another 3 points! Another great team performance with some lovely passing and perseverance, but special mentions to Savannah Brown for running her little socks off and putting in such great passes and strikes, newbies Lou and Lucy who made 30 years away from the pitch seem like 30 days, and a fab guest appearance from Nina Brown.
